THE NORTHUMBERLAND PLAYERS ANNOUNCE
TWO ACTING WORKSHOPS
APRIL 24, 2010 (repeated on APRIL 25)
To be led by: BRIAN VAN NORMAN
AT THE FIRE HALL. Start time 10.00 am.
Finish time 4:30 – 5:00 pm

Brian Van Norman has been employed in theatre work for over 30 years. As well as being an educator, he has worked with school, university, amateur and professional companies as director, writer, producer and designer. Brian has adjudicated hundreds of plays in the past ten years: for the Sears Ontario Drama Festival on multiple occasions, for the Western Ontario Drama League, Association of Community Theatres - Central Ontario and the Eastern Ontario Drama League. Most recently he has adjudicated the Theatre Ontario 2007 Festival. Brian is a member of Theatre Ontario's Professional Talent Bank. When not adjudicating, writing, or directing, he leads a variety of highly sought after workshops in acting, directing and design. The range of Brian's work runs the gamut of theatrical styles in the two hundred and forty (and still counting) productions he has directed. He has worked in drama, dance and film. His projects have appeared in a number of professional venues including the Stratford Festival, the Arts Club Theatre in New York, the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles, the Grand Theatre in London, Theatre & Company, the Waterloo Stage and Next Level Theatre in the Waterloo Region and Theatre Muskoka, as well as in numerous amateur and educational venues. Brian has also acted...once. He played the dead guy.WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

This workshop is meant for Community
Theatre actors who’d like to refresh their
skills in the basics of acting. The
workshop centers primarily on character
building and script interpretation.
Participants will delve into character
research techniques, explore the physical
challenges of presenting character, work
with motivational factors in action, and
finally look at script through text and
